Meloe (Treiodous) autumnalis ssp. heydeni Escherich, 1889

ℹ  Information:  The subspecies heydeni Escherich, 1889 is endemic to Sicily.
The nominate form of this polytypic species is widely distributed especially in Europe. 

Body length:  8 - 23 mm 
Peak activity: September - December (January)


⚠  Remarks: Meloe autumnalis ssp. heydeni, is a rarer subspecies that occurs in submontane and montane areas. It is an autumn species found from September to January, prefers open and sunny habitats with low vegetation, especially the edges of stands, pastures and forest edges.
